漆を未来に還していく "Join the "one more tree project”

私が漆工芸に出会って25年が経ちました。その頃から、国産の漆の生産量は僅か2％と言われていました。そして、その状況は今も変わっていません。
「どうしたら、漆がなくならない未来がつくれるのだろう」
「漆を使う人が、使う分だけ漆の木を植えたなら、漆は消してなくならない」
「自分が使ってきた漆、これから使う漆を未来に還す。未来の自分と、次の世代に還していく。」
このシンプルな問いの答えを実践するため、美山に移り住んだ2020年から約120本の漆を植えてきました。そして、これから、あと８０本、合計200本の植林を計画しています。
１本の漆の木から取れる漆の量は、キットに入っているチューブの量で約５本分。
ほんの少しの漆の雫で、金継ぎができることを皆さんはご存じのはず。
１本の漆の木から取れる漆が、未来の自分と他の人のために十分なことを。

It has been 25 years since I first encountered Japanese Urishi craftsip. Even back then, it was said that domestic urushi production accounted for a mere 2% of the total. And that situation remains unchanged to this day.
“How can we create a future where urushi doesn’t disappear?”
“If everyone who uses urushi plants as many urushi trees as they use, urushi will never disappear.”
“I want to return the urushi I’ve used and the urushi I will use in the future to the future. I want to pass it on to my future self and to the next generation.”
Driven by this belief, I have planted approximately 120 urushi trees since moving to Miyama in 2020.We are planning to plant another 80 trees, bringing the total to 200.
The amount of urushi harvested from a single tree is equivalent to about five tubes of the urushi included in this kit.
You likely know that just a single drop of urushi is enough to perform kintsugi.
The urushi harvested from a single tree is more than enough for my future self and others.
